The Community Foundation offers a wide range of funding tools to help support churches, schools, nonprofit organizations, and government programs in Southeast Kansas and throughout the United States.
Grants
The Foundation hosts five grant cycles throughout the year, during which nonprofit organizations, schools, religious institutions, and government agencies can apply for funding. Our competitive-grants process provides support for a diverse range of charitable interests, including:
- Arts and culture
- At-risk youth
- Basic human needs
- Women’s health and well-being
- Youth activities
- Youth volunteerism
- and others
You can subscribe to our email lists to learn when grant opportunities become available.
Agency funds
The Community Foundation can also help nonprofit and other eligible organizations by holding and investing the organizations’ own money.
Plus, if an agency establishes an endowed fund with the Community Foundation, it becomes eligible to participate in Match Day on #NationalGivingTuesday, the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

Other funds
CFSEK is also home to many donor-advised funds, designated funds, and field-of-interest funds that support one or more nonprofit organizations. Donors are sometimes more comfortable giving to such organizations through the Community Foundation, which, as an independent third party, can help ensure the donor’s charitable intentions are respected. Agencies should encourage major donors to consider establishing such funds.
