Future Fund Giving Circle awards $17,873 to Crawford County nonprofits

Thanks to the generosity of the Future Fund Giving Circle at the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas (CFSEK), 16 Crawford County nonprofits will be able to provide more programming and services to Crawford County residents using grants totaling $17,873.

“The Future Fund is a testament to the strength of our community joining together to make a lasting difference,” said Devin Gorman, CFSEK Executive Director. “Future Fund members understand the power of collective giving, turning individual donations into a driving force for positive change.”

Future Fund recipients for 2024

The following organizations were awarded funds from the 2024 Future Fund Giving Circle for the following projects:

  • Catholic Charities Inc. will acquire laptops to assist families and individuals in accessing resources and services.
  • Cato Historical Preservation Association, Inc. will organize an educational event for students to experience life in late 1800’s Southeast Kansas.
  • CLASS LTD will provide secure document destruction services while offering employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • Colorful Connections Club will organize two community-focused events, a Friendsgiving Dinner and an End-of-School Pride BBQ, to foster togetherness and celebration among LGBTQ youth, their families, and the broader Crawford County community.
  • DBLO Association will provide bed packages for children in need in Crawford County, Kansas.
  • Families and Children Together Inc. will implement an incentive program for recovery-court participants to encourage positive behavior changes and goal achievement.
  • Family Resource Center, Inc. will install cameras in their 20 classrooms for safety and security purposes.
  • Fostering Connections will implement a Teen Mentor Pilot Program to provide guidance and support for teens aged 16-21.
  • Integrated Behavioral Technologies, Inc. will purchase ABA Start Up Sets for children receiving autism intervention at their SEK Autism Clinic.
  • McCune Lions Club will prepare and deliver Christmas goodie bags to area residents in need.
  • Northeast Unified School District #246 will enhance their Middle School Science Enrichment STEM curriculum by incorporating a 3D printer.
  • Sacred Heart Parish will provide Thanksgiving meal packages for their food-pantry clients to celebrate the holiday.
  • SparkWheel will deliver a multi-level, evidence-based support program for students through Student Support Coordinators positioned inside schools.
  • Special Olympics Kansas will host a Youth Summit in Crawford County focusing on inclusion in schools and the community.
  • The Salvation Army will provide stocking caps and gloves for adults participating in their Crawford County Christmas Distribution.
  • Victory Life Church will purchase a food warmer for their Sonshine Childcare kitchen to prepare meals for children.

About the Future Fund

The Future Fund Giving Circle is a philanthropic group comprising community members from Crawford County who pool their resources to make a difference. Contributors’ annual gifts of $250 to the Future Fund support the fund and its annual granting. Since its creation in 2005, the Future Fund Giving Circle has awarded almost $200,000 in grants.
