Donor Engagement Officer
Position Summary: The Donor Engagement Officer cultivates and strengthens relationships with current and prospective donors to increase philanthropic support for the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas (CFSEK). This role will focus on external engagement, building personal connections, and representing the Foundation in the community to foster a culture of giving. The Donor Engagement Officer will help individuals, families, and organizations establish and develop their philanthropic visions.
Reports To: Executive Director
DONOR RELATIONS
- Develop and strengthen long-term relationships with existing donors.
- Provide Foundation donors with quality stewardship by being responsive to their needs and building personal relationships to enhance their satisfaction with the Foundation.
- Collaborate with CFSEK staff and Board of Trustees to cultivate prospective donors and to promote donor development.
- Proactively identify and develop relationships with potential donors, offering information on the establishment of donor-advised funds, the Legacy Society, and other planned giving opportunities.
- Create and/or oversee opportunities for donors to interact with Foundation staff, Board, and key community members to maximize the effectiveness of their charitable giving.
- Maintain a broad knowledge of the nonprofit community, including Foundation initiatives and use this knowledge to build and maintain relationships with donors.
- Assist in the planning and execution of donor recognition and engagement events.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
- Represent the Foundation through community outreach and public relations activities to identified target audiences, with the end goal of establishing CFSEK as the preferred philanthropic way to give.
- Build relationships with professional advisors to ensure the Foundation is viewed as a trusted and valuable resource for their clients.
- Develop and implement communication strategies, key messages, and provide materials for the purpose of educating and building awareness of the Foundation’s work.
- Stay informed about community needs and the Foundation’s impact to effectively communicate giving opportunities to donors.
- Collaborate with the CFSEK team to develop donor-focused communications and materials.
GENERAL DUTIES
- Assist with team projects and support general office functions.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with strong customer service abilities.
- Ability to secure the confidence of donors and prospects through relationship building and personal connection.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new software systems.
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management systems or donor database software preferred.
- Proven experience in donor relations, fundraising, sales, or a related field with a focus on external engagement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for the mission of CFSEK and philanthropy in Southeast Kansas.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance, with the ability to travel throughout the region for donor visits and events.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to be versatile, flexible, and multitask effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of relevant experience or combination of education and experience.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Full-time position (40 hours per week) with a competitive wage dependent on experience and qualifications.
