The Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas (CFSEK) and Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas (CHC/SEK) hosted a workshop designed for grant writers of all skill levels, from beginners to experts. Beginners learned important steps throughout the grant-writing process, from initial research to collecting data, all the way to filling out a finished-project evaluation. Experienced grant writers got a refresher on those steps from the perspective of some of Southeast Kansas’ most effective grant writers, encountering ideas they may not have considered.
Some of the topics covered in the workshop were:
- Identifying funding opportunities
- How and what to research
- Understanding grant guidelines
- Developing a well-researched objective
- Crafting strong narratives
- Developing a budget
- Reviewing and editing a proposal
- What to do after being awarded a grant
- CFSEK-specific information and tips
The event concluded with a panel Q&A and an in-person networking opportunity for local grant writers.
