The Marcia Smith Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of Marcia Smith, a dedicated teacher whose passion for nurturing young talent shone brightly in her support of band, vocal music, and theatre.
Recognizing the profound impact these activities have on students’ personal and artistic development, this scholarship is awarded to Columbus High School students who actively participate in these enriching pursuits.
By providing financial assistance, the scholarship aims to encourage and empower the next generation of performers, ensuring that Marcia’s love for the arts continues to inspire and uplift students in their educational journeys.

Eligibility criteria
- Graduate of Cherokee County High Schools
- Available to:
- Graduating High School Seniors
- College Students
- Non-Traditional Students
- Full-time enrollment (12+ hours undergraduate) (9+ hours graduate)
- Pursuing postsecondary education at a:
- College or university
- Junior or community college
- Accredited technical, trade or vocational school
- Participation in arts-related programs while in high school, including but not limited to:
- School or community theater
- Band and/or vocal music

- First preference given to graduating high-school seniors for Columbus Unified High School
