WELCOME to the Rita J. Bicknell Women’s Health Fund Grant Process for 2023! [Update: Closed]

The Women’s Health Fund (WHF) giving circles, the Women’s Giving Circle (WGC), and the Circle of Friends Giving Circle (COF), are pleased to make available their annual competitive grant opportunity to southeast Kansas nonprofits in support of the WHF mission to improve the health and wellbeing of women by supporting education, increasing awareness and sharing quality of life opportunities to benefit all women.

Granting

Applications are accepted through the online grant portal until Saturday, September 30th, at midnight.

There are multiple grant opportunities available. Please select the correct opportunity for your organization.

Two grant categories are available from the Rita J. Bicknell Women’s Health Funds.
Grant requests greater than $2,000 are funded by the Women’s Giving Circle.
Grant requests of $2,000 or less are funded from the Circle of Friends Giving Circle. 

In 2022, the WGC awarded $43,312 to 5 SEK non-profit recipients.  Awards averaged $8,662 and ranged from $2,500 to $12,900. The COF awarded $7,680 to 4 recipients. Awards averaged $1,920 and ranged from $510 to $3,550. Projects in Bourbon, Crawford, and Labette counties received funding from the two giving circles totaling $50,992.

Important information for applicants:    
Southeast Kansas nonprofits are encouraged to apply.          
Please read and follow instructions carefully. 
Notification of grant selection decisions is approximately one month after due date.
Once an application is submitted it cannot be edited. 
By submitting an application, you are verifying the accuracy of the information and understand this is a one-time only grant award.

Requirements

In the event your project is funded the following will be required:

An evaluation report including project photos will be submitted upon completion of the project, or by August 31, of the following year.

Publicity guidelines will be followed re: the funded project and documentation provided in the evaluation report.

Your organization may be asked to provide an interview, contribute a story, share your project at a WHF event, or assist in the organization of a WHF membership workday at your agency during the next calendar year.

Grant payments will be sent as soon as possible and will take approximately 2- 4 weeks after grant agreement is submitted.
Evaluation reports from previously funded projects will be considered as part of the selection process.

Project Expenses Typically NOT Funded:

  • Ongoing operating expenses/salaries/stipends/personnel costs
  • Mileage reimbursement or travel costs
  • Building /construction projects/capital improvements
  • Religious activities unless the project serves the general public regardless of religious affiliation
  • Political activities
