Welcome to the 2023 CFSEK General Funds Grant Opportunity! [Update: Closed]

The Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas (CFSEK) is pleased to announce the General Funds grant application is available now and will remain open through Friday, June 30, 2023.

The mission of CFSEK is to serve the SEK region by encouraging charitable giving benefiting the common good and the quality of life. We inspire leadership with programming that is responsive to the interests and needs of those we serve now and in the future.

In 2023, up to $160,000 will be available to fund projects as follows:

  • Youth Activities: $90,000
  • Basic Human Needs: $67,800
  • Arts & Culture: $2,200 

In 2022, the Community Foundation awarded $150,000 to 41 nonprofit recipients out of 64 applications through its General Funds Grant cycle. Awards averaged $3,256 and ranged from $500 to $11,000. Projects in 15 counties serving SEK received funding as well as CFSEK affiliate community foundations.

Important information for applicants:

  • Southeast Kansas nonprofits are encouraged to apply. 
  • Please read and follow the instructions carefully.
  • Notification of grant selection decisions is approximately one month after due date.
  • Once an application is submitted it cannot be edited.

By submitting an application, you are verifying the accuracy of the information and understand this is a one-time-only grant award. In the event your project is funded, you are agreeing to submit an evaluation report and project photos upon completion of the project, or by May 31 of the following year, and follow CFSEK publicity guidelines.

Evaluation reports from previously funded projects will be considered as part of the selection process.

Project Expenses Typically NOT Funded:

  • Ongoing operating expenses/salaries/stipends/personnel costs
  • Mileage reimbursement or travel costs
  • Building/construction projects/capital improvements
  • Religious activities unless the project serves the general public regardless of religious affiliation
  • Political activities
